The Deferred Life Plan- Don’t sacrifice your Life!

The deferred life plan is doing what you have to do today as opposed to someday being able to do what you really want to do.

It means success is about achieving it now and rather than later. It can mean accumulation of wealth, a certain lifestyle or even trappings of popularity, physical items like clothes, cars and apartments.

Whatever it is, it has to do with the mindset of racing to achieve or sit back and know it will come to you. And your life? Do you care about it, enjoying it as if it is a rat race or a leisure pace? Do you have time for your family, friends or even for yourself? Do you enjoy doing what you have to do or do you enjoy doing what you want to do?

Do you do the former first i.e. doing what you have to do, then accumulate wealth for say 40 years, and then retire to enjoy the fruits and doing what you loved to do?

Have you given any thought about your life? Is it an endless nightmarish dark tunnel or are you living and enjoying life?  Do you basically do the same boring routines and then hope, later in life find yourself able to do things you loved to do? This is the Deferred Life Plan.

The sad truth is most people will work hard their entire lives and never get to the second stage. That’s why people are attracted to heroes from Randy Komisar’sThe Monk and The Riddle-The Art of Creating a Life while Making a Living” or even Tim Ferris’s “4 Hour Work Week”. Reading them makes the day pass by effortlessly and allows for more inspiring wishful thinking.

The problem is things don’t always turn out favorable and we lose hope. It’s like the saying if we take each step in the direction of Mount Everest, we will surmount all obstacles and conquer this mountain a 100%!

Yes, it’s only words, and words are all we have to rely upon to move us in the direction of our goals. Words are precedents and forerunner of what we will achieve in life. What you can see in your mind, you can get it on your hands!

Hence we need to do what we need to do in order to be first financially independent. Then and only after that, we can proceed with our true goal of doing what we loved to do!
